A partially true account of
Matt Ryan's hellishly frustrating and ultimately pointless trip into and subsequently out of film school. On the surface, Nowhere Fast is a comedic indictment of college as a whole and the pressures young people feel from all directions pushing them towards "what's expected". Underneath, it's the heartwarming (and often silly) tale of Ben who, after a sudden reminder of the fragility of life, awakens from his school-induced coma and decides to take control of his own fate. And if this means he'll have to blackmail a few deans and run from a few cops- then so be it.

This $8,000 DV feature was shot in Austin and San Antonio, TX over the summer of 2005. It was originally written as a short film while
Matt Ryan was still attempting to navigate film school at the University of Texas where, ironically, most of the eventual feature ended up being shot. It gets its title and overall themes from the Incubus song off their 1999 album Make Yourself.
